Job Description
The Department of Aquatic Resources (DTU Aqua) is looking for a 1st Engineer for the marine research vessel R/V DANA, an ocean-going research vessel built primarily for fisheries research, with its home port in Hirtshals jobs.
Your responsibilities include:
- Planning operation and maintenance tasks for visiting ship assistants during lay-ups jobs
- Supervising and motivating the crew to maintain a safe working environment on board jobs
- Planning the purchase of stores, spare parts, lubricating oils, and chemicals; monitoring consumption and inventory jobs
- Supervising external craftsmen to ensure safety and quality jobs
Your Profile
You have sailing experience as a 1st or Chief Engineer on special vessels or within the merchant fleet jobs. You should be capable of:
- Exercising strong leadership as you supervise the crew during lay-ups and during sailing jobs
- Handling both practical ship operations and associated administrative tasks jobs
- Working with hydraulic systems and electrical installations jobs
- Maintaining an open, positive, and humorous attitude while fostering a strong safety culture jobs
- Possessing all necessary statutory certificates for this ship size, including at least STCW95–Engineer 1st Class jobs

Salary and Employment Conditions: Employment is based on individual terms in accordance with local agreements for R/V DANA. Working hours are distributed over approximately 150-170 days a year with deployments lasting two to four weeks, including lay-up shifts lasting one to two weeks. The sailing calendar is typically known a year in advance jobs.
